History
When the Greek navy wanted to aquire a battlefleet, they first turned to the Americans by buying the two pre-drednaughts USS Mississippi and USS Idaho, becoming the RHS Kilkis and Lemnos.  Both were heavily refitted, but were not what the Greek Navy had hoped for.

So, in 1924, the Greek navy requested from seven design beureas a design with 14" guns and a nice range and speed.  The German Blohm and Voss desgin beureau won the contract.  The RHS Salamis and the RMS Hellanic were both laid down in Germany.  Bot with Greek cash, the two ships were completed in 1928.  In 1929, the Greeks laid down the RMS Sparta with American assistance.  So far, all three ships are stil in service, and running very active lives.
